Wordpress

http://thedemtrailtn.blogspot.com/ is coming to its end. After a seven-month run, I have found Wordpress.com is much better than Blogger. From now on, the new blog site is http://thedemtrailtn.wordpress.com/. I may update Blogger sometimes, but Wordpress is the NEW Dem. Trail TN. Thanks.

The Month of May

After the summit in May, a play that I was in went up and exams came. That left little-no time for politics. However, now that it is June, I am at my internship. I've been here for two days. These two days have been amazing! From here on out, I will make a point of posting what I do every day.

Kristine LaLonde Wins Council Race!

Yes, I am aware that the election was last Thursday, but the good news is Kristine LaLonde is our next Metro Council member from the 18th District! She beat Stephanie Dodson by about 60%-40%. She was sworn in on Tuesday, and is now active in representing the Belmont area! Here are some campaign videos.

TNDP Summit Happening Sunday

Okay, I'm doing these in reverse order. Yesterday was so amazingly hectic that I couldn't make a post. However, this is what has occurred today goes in this order. First, I went to a prayer breakfast at the Smokehouse, where I gave a prayer. Everyone commended it, and the food was good. I then spoke with Roy Herron, a candidate for Governor, who said that he wanted me on his team. I attended a few training sessions, and now it is luch. We are getting an OFA presentation right now. This has been such an informative weekend!

TNDP Summit Morning

Here we are at the TNDP Summit. Chip Forrester opened followed by Mike Stewart, our/my 52nd District Representative. They all said similar things about the consequences of losing races in 2010. Gary Odom is now speaking. I will keep posting all through this morning.

First 100...well...99 days

In President Obama's first 99 days in office, he has had to work with congressional Democrats, who, luckily for our party, are not proving to be a Bush-esque rubber stamp for Obama. Instead, they are having healthy differences over exactly which direction to move. For example, Speaker Pelosi wants the Bush tax-cuts for the wealthy to be repealed right now; on the other hand, President Obama is in favor of leaving them to expire in 2010. Actually, on this one, I agree with Pelosi. I in fact consider myself a Pelosi Liberal. However, it is good that under the Democrats, checks and balances are now actually being enforced. Nonetheless, there are some Democrats in the Senate and House who are practically fighting the President every step of the way. One of them is Evan Bayh, Democratic senator from Indiana, and who was once considered Obama's top choice for Vice President. He is now the "troublemaker" with the Dems in the Senate. Wow, am I glad that he was not on the ticket! Anyway, in Obama's first 99 days what with all he has done, set out to do, and everyone he has worked with, I give him an A-. He is doing well, but in my opinion right now, it is too early to judge.
